Matt, do you think we could get an update on which sails are in stock?

Thanks so much Matt.

Is it possible to order from a dealer over there in Europe and have them ship here? I'd rather order from a local dealer but the current US styles aren't my cup of tea.

Zach - I ordered the 2013 Euro Nationals from Backyard Boats in VA. Just call your dealer and give them the order numbers Matt shows above. Those patterns are stocked in the U.S.

Those sails look great!!

Beleive it or not, when I showed my wife the sails available, she said that I should get them if they are good deal. She thought they looked so much nicer than the plain orange ones that I have now. That got me to thinking....

My boat is so old, an lacking so many basic improvements, is there any point? Also, without the repositioned mast base, and the shrouds for more mast rake, etc, etc, would the new sails even fit?

I am not sure if I am looking for someone to talk me into this, or out of this!

New sails even without other upgrades will be transformative to someone running old blown out sails.

Although I will warn you.

I am nearly the cheapest of all the cheapskates, and was bragging just a few short years ago I was bragging about how little I had spent to put a boat together. This season I can't wait to enjoy my brand new boat.

The small improvement made over the years are greater than the sum of the parts.

But the big question remains, will they fit? I have heard so much about how the cut of the sails have changed over the years. I would hate to get new sails and find that in order to use them I need to change another $1000 of parts to get them to fit.

If any changes are needed, it would probably be a newer set of standing rigging. They have changed the lengths for more mast rake over the years. This could make a difference with new sails....

The cut on the jib changed, and should fit an old boat 'better' with more room for adjustment.

An old Jib on a newer boat might present a problem.. but not the other way around.

It sounds like a new boat is in order. Your wife has made a wise and timely recommendation. Make sure you give her plenty of credit when pick up the new boat at the dealer. :D

Well folks, after really trying to talk myself out of it, there is one less set of Palma Euro 2013 sails available. I stopped by my local Hobie dealer and ordered them today before lunch. I was also able to get a cheap used trailer, so no more reasons to not go racing, other then my missing comp tip. I will latch onto my 1 time exemption, and see how it goes.

I drool over new sails! Even more so for entire new boats. But till I can convince the "better(?) half" it's necessary for my well being, I have to keep the old '83 floating :) ! Sigh......
