In France is a compagny that makes also nice flathead sails for the H 16

I was able to get the new sails up yesterday and they look great! I still need to figure out that shackle length as my solution was too short and left a wrinkle. All of my jib battons needed to be cut down about an inch or two. I love the Velcro retainers.
We saw you from the Etchells course (I was PRO for them) yesterday - I was like, "I know that guy! - and was telling the story of the sails to the guy on the signal boat who's the Etchells NA class president.

He was completely blown away with the fact that HCE provided sails to the Euro events - and that Hobie Cat still provides boats for the worlds.

That's awesome, Matt! We had our share of troubles that day. It was a last minute decision, and I pulled the boat out of winter storage about 8pm the night before and got it home about 10:30pm. The race morning was spent trying to fit the new sail, and all my old batten ends crumbled as I took them off the old sail, so I raced with almost no tension. We were running late, so I forgot to tension the jib halyard until I was on the water. Then the jib tension sheeve crumbled when I did try it. My 35 year old boat was really showing its age! I need to get some parts from my local Hobie dealer this week, for sure. Instead of coming back, I spent Sunday cleaning all the waterline stains from the hulls with a scotchbright pad. I still have a lot of work to do in that area.

Despite all the issues, I had a great time on Saturday, and overall was pleased with my cold water gear and new sails. The folks at CRAM made a great effort to make us feel welcome and really helped us out, despite how out of place our boat was racing against all the shiny new F18's with spinnakers.

I've always loved this Euro sail series even with all that white, those bright centre colours really set it off!

Anyone else have tiny holes in the plate on the clew of the jib?
My regular shackle I use is too big to do the sideways through 2 holes gig I usually do.
Like this...

I dont think I will need the extra room now with the cut of the new jib so its all good. But I would like to run a fast shackle setup if possible?

Afraid the holes will be too small.

Those Austrian sails look pretty sweet! We love our set!! Just used them for the first time in San Diego reggatta this last weekend!! Had a blast!!
Over the weekend we had some guys mention that because they are euro sails they are not cut for a comp tip? I wouldnt think there would be a difference? Is this true or not?
Also we did add an old shackle that we had from an old main halyard that was the perfect size for the boom attachment. It made it so much easier to get the boom in!!

We also finished our new strips and decals to match the new look!!

There was never a change in sail shape when we went to the CompTip, so no significant (design) difference. The Euro sails are a little different because they are made in a different loft and they just developed things differently in France for many years.

Thanks Matt for you response!! That's what we were kind of thinking. They are reinforced in a few different areas and extra stiching as well.

Ron, That is a hardware issue... the nut on the end of the tiller has to be right.
