Post subject: | Aussie Pigtail Dimensions |
Hi all, In my excitement to get on the water I left my Aussie pigtail and bow shackle on the tramp and drove off and of course lost the works between home and the lake. I don't want to wait for an order to get here to Canada so I thought I would get one crimped at our local chandlery. Thing is I don't know the dimensions for this pennant and was wondering if anyone out there knew what the dimensions should be. I think the shorter pigtail should be 6" but don't know for sure. I have no clue what the longer one is. The boat is an '85 Hobie 16 and not modified to my knowledge other than a comp tip and aussie jib conversion. The pigtail I lost is like this one Murrays p/n 02-3300 Thanks so much for your help. Cheers, skydog |

The one on my 2000 boat (seems to be original) is about 8.75" eye to eye. It is constructed slightly differently than the one that I bought as a kit for my '78 boat but I don't have that one here to measure. |

Thanks Anton, Can I assume correctly that the measurement you provide is the longer leg of the pigtail? That would add up about right. The upper forestay is 6-1/2" and the jib block (not used now) between it and the lower forestay is about 2-1/2" for a total of 9" from lower forestay to mast tang. I would risk a guess at the shorter (not as critical) leg to be about 6" as originally thought. Anyone out there with both dimensions? Cheers, skydog |
