I never had a problem with old floppy sails. But what is everyone doing with crispy new ones. The Jib in particular? (though I am all ears for main too!)
Roll main then roll jib around it? Boom on or off?
I have a murrays zipper sail bag that is on the tight side and have a heck of a time getting my jib in there without wrinkles!

Fold the main on a mid batten and roll with the boom on. Fold the jib on the second batten down and roll. Tuck the jib inside the main.

Hmm interesting...doesn't folding at some mid way point either wear out the bolt rope or kink the cable in the jib?
Not doubting your experience just wondering out loud!
Going to have to try it out!

Hi Matt, when you roll the main, do you roll towards the boom? or do you roll it around the boom?

Now that I have new sails, I have no idea how to keep them looking good. This is an area where it would be REALLY helpful to have a quick video for us noobs!

Assuming your rolling from the "top" (where you fold) down in this case correct?

From folded batten towards boom. Boom remains outside the roll for the most part. When you are ready to hoist, the head will be easy to reach as it will be nearer the boom. The sail unrolls easily as you hoist or shake it out first then hoist.

This is how we do it at events as well. The blocks can be left attached to the traveler system since the boom is still outside the rolled sail, so rigging in the morning is easy. We use the excess mainsheet to tie the rolled sails to tramp laces.

Matt, do you typically leave the mainsheet attached to the blocks as well?
