More that 2 years ago I updated my YouTube video on Solo Mast Stepping and neglected to do it here, so, now that the rest of the world is starting it's sailing season, here it is again; a quick and easy solution to the eternal question:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kUJGgtI-B8

Important to stress that the cat should be on the beach rollers, tilted forward and down to relieve the weight of the mast and allow it to fall forward into place with a jerk.

Happy Sailing!
Oops! here's the real one (June 3 2015) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kUJGgtI-B8

While this is a great video, and I appreciate you posting it, I think you posted the wrong one, since it sounds like you intended to link to a video on mast stepping procedures, right?

I would love to see that video as well!

Just wrapped up this project today. How's this for solo mast stepping?

Oops!! Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kUJGgtI-B8

I haven't logged in for quite a while -sorry!

And yes, Chloe was the neighbours dog, saved from the backyard. Then the neighbour died suddenly and I couldn't say no to adopting (in 2011) considering I'd been sailing/walking her every day for the previous 6 years.
At 14 1/2 he's very shaky in the stern end now and though she's put a temporary halt to my backpacking around SE Asia, a promise is a promise and I'll be there for her till she shuffles off to 'Doggie Heaven'.

MinMin the Russian Blue (full name Mary Makillop for Australia's first saint) had to take over the crewing and ballast after poor Chloe went to Heaven in Oct 2015.

I don't know of any other pussycat that sails on a Hobie but you can see her video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPUTbr1QnLU

We are back in North Queensland again, sailing the islands off the beach at the edge of the rainforest. Nice and warm and hardly any need for Min's wetsuit (made from an old sock!).

J (Be good to your dog ... and cat!)
