Does anyone know how far the rivet needs to go into the sleeve for maximum strength? It seems the 3/16" x 5/8" rivet is too short as it just barely comes through the cleat. I'm having a tough time finding a longer 3/16 ss rivet. I was even thinking about countersinking the hole in the cleat to allow for greater rivet penetration into the sleeve but it seems like there must be a easier way?

The easier way is the right size rivets.

The catalog calls for 5/8" long rivets in that application. They should protrude about 1/4" from the base of the cleat.
