MollyAnna, you mentioned small lakes in central PA. Where about? I'm always looking for a place without the wind shadow I get in the small lakes I sail in central PA.

smattie - I'm new to all of this, but love sailing and take what I can get. I have sailed on Sayers Lake once and Lake Glendale once. Both were challenging in their own way. Sayers has significant wind shadows, but we managed and had a fun afternoon, with some paddling. Lake Glendale was sailed on a very breezy day (10-20 kts of wind). This was a bit too much for my level of experience, but we survived and learned a lot. The wind funneled down the lake and there were some heavy gusts that nearly capsized us. Having said that, there is a sailing club at Lake Glendale and I think most of the time they are praying for more wind. Lake Glendale also has lower hills surrounding it, so more consistent wind.
