H16 Line Guide for a 1984 Model

I have seen a line guide for diameters and lengths online that seems to be for newer boats. Is there a similar guide for older boats such as a 1984 model? My assembly manual doesn't show anything about lengths or diameters when it comes to lines, unless I am missing something.

Diameters, in case of Main and Jib sheets, will be smaller.
Choice for new will be a matter of your preference.
Smaller diameters run faster, larger diameter may be easier on the hands (if you're in the habit of sawing the sheets in and out).

Lengths, if not identical, are very close and usable for sheets.

Since this a one-design boat, most if not all the rest of the line lengths are right for a 1969 through 2017 Hobie 16

Wouldn't the main sheet length be different depending on the blocks you are using?

Good question. My boat has the 5:1 set up and the line guide I have seen specifies 6:1 and says the main sheet is 44ft.

I think my best bet is to actually measure the lines and sheets on my boat and go from there. For instance, the guide states that the jib halyard is 20ft, and the main halyard is 27ft, I just don't think they are that long on my boat, but I will measure to make absolutely sure. I have seen videos where there is a bunch, and I mean a bunch of excess line for each halyard, coiled up and tucked in between the halyard itself and the mast, and I just don't see the need for all of that excess line.

3/8's is the standard size for the mainsheet, and 5/16 for the jib sheet. Personally, I like 5/16 for all mainsheets up through the 21.

I would imagine that the 5/16 as a main sheet would run more free.

You don't want to make your halyards too short. There have been times when I've lowered the jib over water, I use the end of the halyard under the jib and give it a wrap to keep it out of the water.

I just went ahead and ordered some line in the lengths that the guide stated, 20ft for the jib halyard and 27ft for the main halyard.
