Hi all,

Contemplating buying a new H16. The ones available in NZ are crap, importing one from Oz is pricey, and all the competitive guys are sailing 2014 boats from the Oz worlds. I've heard that when you buy new, that they come assembled and rattle around where the hulls connect to the vertical pylons. The guys with the 2014 boats said they glue it together to prevent the boat from rattling around due to wave action.

Are there any other things which I'd want to consider/know when buying new? Things which I'd probably have to fix, alter, or customize right away?

The new sail colors look cool. Thanks hobie for the new highlighter colors!

A new boat needs almost nothing to be done to make it competitive. Trim the battens lengths, maybe?

Gluing the frame together is optional. I've only done it on much older boats. None of my new boats really needed it.

What comes with the advertised price package (trailer, box, beachwheels, bob floats, side rail grips, etc.)? Or, is each one of those things an added cost to the advertised price?

Oh, and does the mast come pre-sealed?

When you buy a boat, you buy the boat. Not everyone needs a trailer, box, beachwheels or a Bob (not standard on a 16). I'm sure most dealers would put together a package of extras for you.

Not sure about the side rails grip, though. Every one that I've bought new (that would be 5 of them, last one in 2007) did not come with anything on the sidebars. That might have changed.
