I was gifted an old Hobie 16 and put about $3000 into it. Serial number is CCMP8666M81G. Could you provide any information to decode this and extract year, for example? (1981?) The "1" could just be a vertical bar (no serif) but the "G" is pretty clear. I someone could guy me, I can upload a photo.

This doesn't seem to match the guide to interpreting serial numbers posted. Thanks!

There is a match guide on here... pretty common re-occuring thread. For you, it is an 1981 boat, the G I'm pretty sure has something to do with what month it was built. So, the 7th month in the year. In the end, the only really necessary part of the serial number is the 81 anyways.
