Hello All! I’m new to the forum, but have learned a lot on the parifary. Thanks for letting me join! I’m cruising a old 84 H16 on Lake Merwin, WA that I’ve done a bunch of work too. Epoxy the frame, hull work, rigging, etc. I just put it in for the season this weekend and had a blast ( first runs on the epoxied frame! ) I couldn’t get my 12 year old son off the trapeze, it was his first time out on the Cat, and he was tearing it up!! My daughters smile looked like it hurt!
To the question though. I noticed that my old mast tip sheave is pretty old and worn. I happen to have a backup tip (old style) that I would like to premptivly rebuild. Does anyone know where to get a new sheave, and what’s the best replacement axle after the old one is drilled out. Thanks for your consideration. Tom

Ebay is probably your best bet. Those parts haven’t been manufactured by Hobie for decades.

Five years ago I replaced my mast head sheave with a new one from eBay for $30.

I replaced the axle with a short/fat clevis pin from West Marine.

Terry and Tyler of Get Wet Sailing, made a good video about replacing a mast head sheave, etc. Hobie 16 Mast Repair
