I have a hobie 16 and the comp tip has an alligatoring to it, almost like it was a hard boiled egg that was rolled around. I believe this happened from the sun. Is there any way to repair this? maybe sanding and painting? also will the alligatoring effect its floatation?

Thoughts?

I have this same issue on my 2008 H16. It has been like this since it was 2 years old.

I do not believe it is sun related as my mast is covered when not sailing. So far there has been no structural issues with the comp tip and it is most likely just a surface issue.
