Hey everyone,

I am new to sailing and considering the purchase of an older H16. The rigging and sails seem to be in good working order for the most part. There are a couple soft spots on one of the hulls, which I intend to fix, but I’m wondering if I should be concerned about a few hairline cracks in the fiberglass around where one of the trampoline mounts are. Is this cause for concern?
Thanks

Hairline cracks are pretty common around the pylons, but soft spots should be avoided if possible. I've gone the soft hull/repair route before and it's a lot less headache/hassle if you can find a solid boat.

Agreed. Find a solid boat. You need to spend time learning to sail, not fixing boats. A hull with "a couple of soft spots" is a sign that the boat should be avoided. Multiple soft spots means that most likely the hull is toast - you will likely be in for headaches, wasted money, and potentially a dangerous hull failure if you go that route.
