green stuff on hull

H16 sat up for several years, has green mold/mildew on sides. On top has a thick green stuff, looks like it had been growing !! Mold on side comes off easily, but the hard green stuff does not !! Someone suggested Bon Ami, I will try that, any other suggestions ? How about cleaning the mast ? thanks

I use a product called Iron Out to clean my boats. It comes in a powder and when mixed with water makes an acid. I don't use too much though. It usually takes just a little bit in 5 gal bucket of water to do the job.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on doing it soon. I have heard that a very small bit of vasoline on a rag will polish up the black anodized masts and temporarily bring back the shine. I'll let you know if it works next week when I get back home. My only fear is that is might make the surface feel gummy. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Salt water does the trick. Dump it in the Atlantic, go for a swim. While you are recovering from the flu , let her bake in the sun.

Or you can just use a pressure washer, should peel it right off.

Go to the grocery store and get some Bob Ami. $1 a can here. My Hobie 17 was COVERED with it from three years neglect outside. It and a hard bristle brush and it was gone

Does the bon ami stuff restore the shine to the fiberglass/gelcoat. I would like to polish up my boat eventually, I've just done a gelcoat repair as a result of my delam, I hope to be posting pics soon but still have a little ways to go. I have looked into the vert-glass system and it seems real nice, but if I can keep my 75 bucks that sounds great to me. What do ya'll think? How abrasive is it, there is no mold or green stuff but there is some dirt that the pressure washer couldn't touch?

Its warming up nicely around these parts, come hell or high water I'm taking her out next week. She and I have some catching up to do . Unfortunately after about two weeks of 20+ mph winds it looks like I'll be lucky to get 10. But it's all good.

I wetsanded the sides of the hulls then polished em out, now the are like glass. If you have the time wetsanding works wonderfully.

What does wetsanding entail, I'm pretty new to all of this repair/clean up stuff? Is it just a special type of paper or an actual method?
