I have a new to me Hobie 16. I need to install a boom cap, gooseneck end. I already have a new gooseneck, just wondering if the normal procedure to replace a gooseneck requires the removal of the cap first so you can install the pin? Thanks.

There is a retaining clip on the end of the goosneck pin that holds it in the end of the cap. So yes, you would need to drill out the rivets and take off the end cap in order to replace the gooseneck.
