My 1985 H16 comptip is shedding fiberglass on the side they left facing the sun on the trailer and it's really bendy. I could reglass that side but the plug is very loose in the mast too.

It's a real long shot to save some work and/or a lot of money...

Unfortunately my H-18 mast cross section profile seems to be about 5" x 3" while my H-16 mast profile seems to be rounder... shorter and fatter, just eyeballing it with a bent up tape measure.

Also, the 18 seems to have a lot more taper than the 16 Comptip does... much skinnier at the top. But hoping after cutting the top down to correct length, the hardware can fit.

I did a search and saw that the separated plastic tracks don't seem to be interchangeable between the two comptips, but as long as they both line up and are the same width, tracks should work.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
Rambo

The extrusion shape is a bit different.

Not going to work without a lot of customizing. Not worth the effort.

Extrusion shapes are different. Mast head system and halyard/hook arrangement is totally different between the two boats. You would have to convert to an internal halyard meaning adding a block to the bottom of the mast. If you’re talking about cutting off the top of the H18 comptip then the mast head won’t fit right. H18 halyard hook requires the mast to be aboe to rotate a full 180 degrees to engage/disengage the hook which you won’t be able to do with the H16 mast rotation stops. The list goes on. Don’t waste your time. Find a decent used H16 mast on craigslist.
