Hey there,

We are new to Hobie 16! We have sailed before (mono hull) - we took a break from sailing for a few years (life, kids), but my friend and I have bought a Hobie 16 and ready to get stuck in.

We would love some tuition - in particular someone willing to go through capsize drill. :)

Anyone willing and able in Burlington Ontario??

Thanks!!

For tons of Hobie 16 information, including how to right a Hobie 16,
go to U Tube and search for "Joseph Bennett"
He has a utube channel which is everything catamarans, especially
Hobie 16's because there are more Hobie 16's in the world then every
other catamaran, combined. He must be over 500 videos now talking
about all kinds of subjects pertaining to setting up and sailing a catamaran.

Good Luck.

What GFord said, I brought my Hobie last year having never sailed anything and watched JoyRider, have been out a few times and only fell off once so far.

There are a bunch of Clubs near you, with many good Hobie sailors who can help out.
Try the Burlington Beach Cat gang.
Also Mississauga Sailing Club,
and further east there is Water Rats and Jamestown Toronto.

Keep safe

Thank you so much for all your advice! We have been watching a lot of Joe Bennett videos - they are awesome and have made some friends with more experience Hobie sailors…. The adventure begins! I’m sure we will be posting on here again for tips and tricks!
