Hi all. I have found that when I rake my mast back to or near the max my trap cables are a bit long. I adjust the rope lock right at the block on the end of the cable which puts me just a bit low while out on the wire, especially for rough water. I am guessing I will cut 4 inches off and re-swage. Has anybody else had this situation occur?

Hey Speedawg, Had to do the same thing. And because I'm a bit tall (6'2") I had them cut an additional 3 inches for better leverage when going out/or in on the wire. Works great for me. I didn't change the crews trap lines so mine are shorter than theirs. It didn't seem to effect them as much.

Thanks for the reply David. I sail with a friend frequently on a Super Cat 20 and noticed that his trap handles are about 6 inches higher than on my boat which seems to help a bit more when coming in off the wire. I now only have to find a swage tool and the proper size swage. So do you fly or own a Bell 47?

Trapeze handle height... standard measurement is 32" off the rail you are sitting on for best results getting out and getting back in..

Thanks Matt. I will check my handle height when the mast is raked. Was trappin yesterday eve and had a blast as I was solo and the mast was about mid-way raked. Finally warm enough to sail without drysuit!!

Yo Speedawg,

I checked Matts specs of 32" off the rail I'm sitting on. By the way, thanks Matt. The wire for the crew "is" about 31" off the sidebar. I forgot to measure mine but it looks like quite a difference. Of course, I'm about a foot taller than both of them but they seem to do O.K.

Will measure this week and let you know.
