Post subject:  Harken 6:1 mainsheet system

Hi there - I just got a carbo 6:1 mainsheet system - it came stock with the cleat mounted upside down - sailed with that today and found that it was difficult to uncleat.

I moved it to the top so that it is right side up now, but I didn't change the way the mainsheet is threaded, so the tail of the sheet now feeds up the center block and then out to the cleat. Before it fed directly off the block to the cleat.

I'm not sure if I need to re-rig the system - any ideas? It was difficult enough to figure out how to thread the line the first time....

Thanks!

G

Put it back on the bottom. On each side of the block there is an adjustment that will allow the cleating angle to change. I do not know of anyone having any problems with the way it can be adjusted. Feel free to contact me off list if need be!

Thanks,

I changed the angle of the cleat when I first got mine to make it easy to uncleat when sitting on the tramp however once I started helming on the wire I found that the angle should have been left as it was as I couldn't cleat in the rope with the altered setting. Play around with it and you should find a setting that suits you, just remember that when on the wire your angle is much lower than sitting on the tramp. :D
