My drive kept popping out when I was heading back to the ramp in some choppy water last weekend (2019 Outback with a 180 drive). I have not had that happen before. It happens a time or two at the end of the video I posted below. Sometimes I could just push the latch back into place with my foot but other times I had to lean forward to push it down and click it back in.

I thought (hope) perhaps I just need to lubricate the latches that lock the drive into place. Has anyone else had this issue? Is this possibly some kind of a wear issue or is it just a lubrication issue. Just in case anyone thinks this is the issue, I was careful to watch after a while to make sure I was not hitting the release with my foot. (I thought that might be the issue at first).

Thanks for any info.

Fortunately I haven't had this problem yet, but as I am always looking at anything hobie on rainy days I was hoping to go out, I did see this that might help you:

"How to Fix Hobie Mirage Kayak Click-N-Go System" on YouTube by G1 Fishing

Maybe that helps? - good luck

Thanks! I will check that out. Lubricating the latches seems to have resolved the problem for now but I will definitely check out the video to see if there is more I should do!

It’s the mirage opening. It’s too tight. I took mine back to the shop last weekend. He took a flat file and knocked off this tiny ridge in the wellformed by a casting error. Mine was only popping out on the right latch.

It drops in with a reassuring “click” now.

Turn your kayak over and try to set the drive in the hole. You’ll see where it rubs.
