Ugh. I broke the coupling shaft between my rudder and the steering drum on the back deck. I've been googling around trying to find out what sort of replacement work I am in for, and what the part looks like, but after searching for an hour i've found nothing.

this is a 2019 Outback (not the twist and stow rudder). I have a customer service request in to Hobie to help me find the part, but i am sort of amazed that I can't find this part online.

anybody else break the rudder coupling? Any advice on how to find the replacement part and how to fix it?

Thanks...

Frank

Rudder drive shaft is 81701002. Loosen the steering cables a bit and remove the center fastener that secures drum to shaft. Lots of YouTube videos for replacing the rudder to the shaft assembly. Relatively simple task.

Cheers
