I want to try to convert the supplied standard Mirage plug in cassette on a ‘22 Hobie Outback to accept a Bixpy J-2 motor and shaft. Wondered if anyone has tried this. I know I can buy the Bixpy J-2 mirage adapter, but I already have the power pole adapter and jus want the versatility of both the power pole attachment on the stern and also plug in to the mirage drive. Just wondered if any one has tried this to adapt the plug in cassette for this purpose. Thanks!

It could certainly be done but you would have to be fairly clever. Materials would cost also, not sure if you would save a lot.

If you do not already have the Bixpy just tell them you want it with the mirage drive adapter, where I am anyway it costs the same whichever adapter you get.

So, gs6040, what did you end up doing?

I noticed Bixpy now has two different drive-mount adapters. One that they obviously originally developed (based on the common design elements). The other is a bit different. I really like the protection it offers the motor and how tight it fits to the hull (for shallow water). I wonder which one performs better in open water.

I don't have a Bixpy set up. But if I ponied up for the J-2, I'd go with one of their adapters.
