Hi friends, I bought a Hobie Mirage Outback 2019 seven months ago which I use for fishing in calm water lakes and rivers.

After the last fishing I noticed two cracks in the kayak's hull, specifically the rear seat support. The crack occurred where the seat rests on the high level. Probably due to the pedaling movement, pressure is exerted on the spot and the hull material has cracked where the seat rests.

I wonder if anyone else noticed this issue in other Outbacks 2019?

Thank you very much and appreciate any information about it.

Place a warranty claim with your dealer. Likely molded thin in that area. The hull should be replaced.

So you've had your new hull for awhile now, any new cracks?
I wonder if Hobie addressed this issue with the 2020 model?
I was ready to buy a new outback and seen this thread and stopped me in my tracks.
My problem is, I live Nagasaki Japan and the nearest dealer is south of me on the Island of Okinawa.
The return shipping if I had this problem would kill me. :(

More plastic was added early on the 2019 model year.

I don't have a date of when that changed (very early on I think), but this was done to prevent inconsistencies. Just some might be thinner.

If you listen to the facebook groups every 2019+ outback has spontaneously combusted as soon as it hit the water

Not possible... "every one" "that failed" may have failed early, but we are not getting significant reports.

This was a possible issue in the 2019 early models. It was corrected in 2019 and we have not seen it in later 2019s or any 2020.

Any idea what months this was improved? Mine was made in April (D on my serial) of 2019 and I do stand and fish. I've only had it a few months, but I love it and I would hate to se this issue. Anything I can do to prevent it?
