Looking to upgrade my fish finder to the Helix 7 with side imaging on my 2017 outback. Is the berlypro adapter the best option for mounting the transducer? I currently load my kayak into the back of my avalanche. Any ideas I can use to avoid raking the transducer off during loading and while transporting? Thanks in advance. |

On my 2011 Outback I made a reticulating arm out of 3/4" (or 1" I don't remember) hollow aluminum bar stock (you can find it at Home Depot or almost anywhere, even Amazon). I added a gear track up near my front hatch just in front of the steering anchor points. A good tip is that toilet flange bolts are perfect for using in tracks. I even found matching plastic knobs at Home Depot. The nice thing is that it is easily removable and adjustable (I used it on 2 different kayaks and a small jonboat). The downside is that having it hang off of one side is that you create drag and the kayak wants to pull in that direction. I used it like this for many years so it was well above acceptable to me. If you are interested I can get it out and take some pictures. |

Some photos of your arm setup would be great. I considered the Yak Attack blade. What did you do with the mile of cable that comes with the transducer? |

Sorry, I have not checked in here in a while. I will take a picture of it tonight. You can see it deployed in this video. You can see how I have it hanging off the side of my 2011 Outback here: https://youtu.be/_3pSXitdziU Before I mounted my transducer to the sonar shield I used to attach it to the front track on my 2019. I will follow up with a picture tonight. |

I’m more interested in the rod holder set up. What is it and who makes it? ~JOE~ |

Joetrain wrote: I’m more interested in the rod holder set up. What is it and who makes it? ~JOE~ It is a Scotty Gear head to Scotty Gear Head extender (429) to Scotty Gear head hosting a Scotty Orca. I have friction slip disks on each connection to allow easy and precise adjustment. I screw them into the tracks anywhere between two screw-in spots (for strength). |
