Could you rotomold a kayak in the shape of the lynx? It seems like many of the issues with the Lynx would be solved with a rotomolded kayak. It is just so delicate and limiting since you cannot drill holes in the hull.

The thin shape does not work well in rotomolding. It needs a foam core and that is then a lot heavier.

The Perception Hi Life a comparable boat: Its a 'paddleboard with a seat' style hull, similar to the Lynx but with a rotomolded hull (and no pedals). I've had a Hi Life for several years and I love it, in fact it was one of the main reasons I bought the Lynx.

Hobie could have put a Mirage drive on a rotomolded paddleboard with a seat. It would be more durable, but heavier. The Hi Life is 55 lbs, and I notice the difference when I move my 45 lb Lynx. Every boat is a compromise
