I thought you couldn't drill into these hulls?

How was this installed?

Not sure I would trust that mounting solution.

We've had success modifying a Lynx rudder blade to fit a Bixpy motor to it. So far we've had great feedback on this set up. No need for drilling anything, easy to remove and replace with regular rudder when and if Bixpy isn't required, plus you get motorized steering as well as propulsion. You'd need to add a pole steering adapter to the PA adapter he's used there to get the same functionality.

Probably not. We don't have a J1 here to experiment with. But you could probably do something very similar yourself if you've got some tools and a bit of know-how. You'd need to get yourself a Lynx / Passport Rudder XL Assembly and get creative
