When I got the boat 25 years ago, the boom traveller was installed with the block forward. On my third sail now and was thinking if that is the correct orientation.i could easily reverse it, but thought I'd ask first. If the block was on the back, then I could increase the draft of the sail by pulling the car back. With the block forward, the car always seems to slide forward anyway.
Any advice?

The block goes forward. You need to pull and hold the car forward to get the sail flat. Usually when you want it full it will move aft enough on its own.
