Anyone know the #'s for an FX-One and the 17...both single with no spin? Maybe we can compare the two at the Frayed Knot regatta if KB decides to show. |

69.97 w/o the chute...still faster than an 18. Karl is transporting the Clear Lake contingent of six Waves, and racing one. Pre-registration is now available on our website. http://fleet297.org/frayed_knot.html |

If there ain't gonna be no 17's, then I might have to bring either a 14 or 16, dammit. How about a boat count, Eaton? |

Hobie 17 Peggy Coe John Mork Bruce Fields Paul Eaton are signed up here http://www.fleet297.org/frayed_knot.html possible Gerald Umstead (defending '08 champion) and there never were any 17's coming from up North, unless John Volkman drives one hell of a long way! |

Now you got me thinking of bringing my 17 . . . . Just to kick Mork's ass for being late with the Hotline postage payment. It's only 890 miles. |

302 pounds-uni 327 pounds-uni + spi 363 pounds-uni + spi + wings But as John pointed out, I'm rockin a Wave that weekend. I tried to get out of sailing the Wave earlier today, but CW would have none of it. Honestly with out the chute I think a H17 would beat the pants off of an FXone. Downwind I think you guys would probably be faster. It's a fricken pooch running just the main down wind. |

You've never sailed a 17, have you? This is a 17 upwind: This is a 17 downwind: Class dismissed. |

You guys round the mark and go dead downwind. If I do that it just bobs, in anything short of a hurricane I'd be in a world of trouble. Gybing downwind under just the main is painfully slow too. LONG LIVE THE SPINNAKER! Last year Wrinklie beat me up pretty good, and I had the chute. In my defense I was uber green on the boat, and the wind was at best frustrating. |

I swear to the wind gods that when Wrinklie sails downwind, he sails backwards. What I mean by that is that instead of the wind flowing from the mast to the leech, it flows from the leech of the sail to the mast. I tried following him downwind once and could not believe how deep he sails. |
