Another question, what is the length of the trap wire on the 17" I need to make a couple. I assume the handle just sits on the thimple press. Thanks, with yous guys's help, I'll have this sailing by November (in Vermont).

If you are going to make your own make them from spectra or dyneema. I thought splicing was borderline black magic, but its really simple and easy. Somebody will have to chime in on whether or not its class legal for the H17 though. I the line for the last set I made cost me about $30, but I already had the thimble's and handles.

I just hate kinking a brand new set of wire trap lines.

Dyneema's not class legal on the 17. 16 and 17 share the same trapeze wires (and shrouds). Much easier to buy than make.

Handle does not sit on the nicropress fitting. It has its own press fitting a couple of inches above.
