Looking to add a motor mount to the rear crossbar as we live on a 500acre lake and the winds seem to frequently go from light to non-existent and that can be a long way to paddle. I've seen the forum threads for homemade mounts installed on other Hobie cats however none of them seem to have the same rear crossbar and so the methods of attachment don't look like they'll work, last month I purchased a Cheata mount that claimed to be for the 14/16 & 17.

Unfortunately the mount doesn't fit the contour of the rear crossbar - https://photos.app.goo.gl/n3bNFjgXsHTMMp778 . I contacted manufacturer and received the suggestion of shimming with neoprene rubber or the offer of a full refund. Anyone installed one of these on their 17? I'm kind of unsure about the rubber idea as I would think that anything that allowed even the slightest movement between mount and crossbar would cause the rivet tails to work their way out of the drilled holes over time, maybe aluminum shims would be a better solution?

Anyone successfully traveled this path before?

Steve..
