I actually came up with a similar mod that I did to my castings. It is much simpler, but works well. If you remove the plastic plunger, you will see that it's hollow inside. I took a small piece of line about 6" long (batten tie line) and epoxied it into the plunger so it sticks out like a tail. Then I re-assembled the cam components and passed the end of the line through the spring and through the plastic cam adjusting screw (this screw also comes with a hole through it). Then I took a small ball stop and tied it to the line. If the cam gets stuck in the down position, I can reach back with one hand and pull down on the line and flip the cam back up with the other hand.

And that's class legal, because it doesn't modify the casting . . .
