Post subject:  Rudder stock screw - adjust cam release

Hi All,
I'm fixing up my rudder system for my HC17 changing plunger, springs, screws etc.
At what force (in kilo) shall i set the screw so the cam releases and the rudder goes up?

There is no specific torque for the adjustment screw, set it by trial and error. The best way would be to bring a large slotted screw driver out on the boat with you so you can make adjustments on the water. If they are not tight enough, the rudders will kick up, usually when sailing on a close reach in a strong breeze. If they are too tight, the cam won't rotate when the rudders kick up (i.e., the cam will get stuck in the "down" position which is a PITA). Using a waterproof grease on the plunger where it contacts the cam will help prevent it from getting stuck down.
