FYI SCAM REPORT. There's a guy purporting to sell a Hobie 17 on eBay and elsewhere, who has some questionable history as reported on ripoffreport.com and elsewhere. He's from Chicago/Illinois/Indiana. I almost bought in, until my wife found a history of some very questionable dealings on the internet and in person. I would be very cautious if you deal. He's very knowledgeable about Hobie's, and sailing/racing. Don't send down payment. Allegedly tampered with titles, etc. Good Luck. Dang, I really wanted that boat, which makes us easy targets.

He also does this with 16s and 18s. He buys them for under a grand and then tries to resell at close to 3. Apparently people are giving him a down-payment without ever seeing what he really has.. So he's collecting money without even selling the boat. He posts on Craigslist Chicago.
