Hi,

I am going to look at an FX-One for sale and had a question. Can it be disassembled for winter storage. I was looking at the assembly manual and there seems to be some adhesive or silicon put between the spars and the hull. Has anyone experience with this? I usually take my 16 apart and have racks for it on a big shed over the winter and was hoping to do the same with the FX.

Any feedback would be helpful!

Cheers!

The silicone is just to seal the holes where the bolts go through.
No problem taking it apart and then re sealing next season with new silicone sealant.

Perfect! That was my hope. I'd rather keep the boat stored indoors rather than let it sit with 6 months of snow on it.

Cheers!

Disassembly of the FX-one was very straight forward and it gets to spend its winter in the boat barn, nustled into cradles and safe until spring. It took about an hour to take it all apart and stow it. I was working very slowly with one helper.

I dissassembled my FX1 a few months ago.
Yes, it was a bit problematic, but I my kids were both holding the hull still while I was working with the beams one by one.
Once one side is free you work with the length of the beam as a lever.
I'd avoid putting anything between the hull and beams to bend with.
Good luck
