Hi all, longtime Miracle 20 sailor here - just picked up a 17 Sport for days when I can’t find crew. I have one wing tube repair to do; found great info here on the forums and planning on tackling this weekend. The boat has no access ports currently - so that will be first. I’ve done access ports before on a 16 but never on a 17. Any recommendations on 5” or 6” and flat vs curved?

Thanks for any help.

Jim

5” should be fine. They actually require a 5-1/2” hole, so do the repair before installing the port flange and you will have an extra 1/2” to work in. Curved is preferred but I believe they are no longer available. So you can use flat and bed the flange in silicone or epoxy to fill the gap. Just don’t over-tighten the mounting screws or you will bend the flange which will make installing and removing the plate more difficult.
