 Post subject: Hobie 17 Mast Step Pin

I have a new / used Hobie 17 and it appears that there isn't a mast step pin. It's either been delicately filled off or there wasn't one for this mast step. Should I be concerned that there isn't one or should I, "Cowboy Engineer" some kind of bailing wire retention?

There is no "mast step pin" on the 17. There's a pin that prevents the mast from slipping off the mast pivot ball, but it's not 100% necessary if you're careful.
