Post subject:  Trapping out my Hobie 14

I bought a 1976 Hobie 14 from a Church last year for 150 dollars. Best buy of my life. No soft spots, hobie sails from the mid 90's. All it needed was paint (which me and my girlfriend are working on) and a few aftermarket parts to make it better. This is a semi restoration project, but mostly updating it to reach optimum preformance. I wanted to put a set of traps on my 14 but i have NO idea what stuff i need to buy to have a successful experience being trapped out. I plan to purchase all of my new trapping equipment directly from hobie. What is a good kit or good set up to get me out flying. Thanks Eric

You'll need the trapeze rigging, a harness, and a dolphin striker kit if your boat doesn't already have it.

The last one I bought was like $75, and if you're trappin' out, you'll keep the boat from twisting with the DS.
You can go out in very high winds, I mean VERY high, if you have the ability to trap out. We go ironman sailing with 4 other 14s, and we've gone out in high 20s, with big gusts on those things. Be careful about pitching though. You'll be one footing off the rear corner casting and still dive the hull in big enough wind.
