I am in the process of rigging up a H14T. I've gone over each of the manuals and cannot seem to understand how to attach the jib sheet to the jib. Do I need to use the "Jib Clew Blocks" somehow? Any help would be great. Thanks. |

Shackle both Jib Clew blocks to the Clew of the Jib (the five holes in one corner of the sail - use the centre one for now). Attach Jib Blocks (with the cleats pointing down) to the wire through the holes on the tramp. Tie one end of the jib sheet to the pin on the top of one block, up through one Jib Clew Block, back down to the jib block and through the cleat. The rest of the jib sheet goes over to the other side of the boat and does the same thing in reverse, if that makes sense! |

I dont know if I am too late to jump on this band wagon but do you have any photos of this explaination? We Jerry rigged a turbo that was donated to our youth camp and even had some Hobie owners on the lake to help us but they were in the dark about the 14. The first time out we all most killed the lifeguard because the mast fell. Any photos would be appreciated greatly, we have the manual but they didn't help with everything. Thanks |

Hello Margaret, I sail myself a Hobie Cat 14T and have set it up for the first time a few weeks ago. What you need to have for the jib setup up is : - the "jib wire" that goes under the trampoline and that you can see through the 2 holes in the tramp - 2 jib blocks - a line - a jib - a shackle and two small blocks You just have to fix the 2 jib blocks through these trampoline holes and to put the line correctly as you can see on this drawing that I printed and took in my sailbag when setting everything the first time : http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-bxEpGYHai8/S ... gure+3.JPG The drawing is extracted from the webpage of someone of this forum named Dan Berger and you will also see over there some picture that might help you in the setup : http://midwestsailing-teh.blogspot.com/ ... erger.html I hope this helps, Nicolas |
