Hobie 14' w/o HIN, any ideas?

I've looked under FAQ's or where-ever on here to try to locate the HIN, but can't seem to find it anywhere.



I Just bought this yesterday to get into sailing, included trailer.
The couple I bought it from said that the # on the sail might be the number I was looking for (HIN), but that doesn't seem to make any sense... wouldn't that be called a SIN. Anyways, I can't find it, and somewhat need it depending on year to obtain a Launch Permit here on Lake Erie to sail.

I'm sure my post #'s will be soaring as I will probably have a ton of questions.

I've sailed mono-hull (ten years ago) so I don't retain much besides the general knowledge of the sport.

I looked at the decoding thread, but am at a loss.

Hulls are 14' long.

I know it's probably a simple mistake I am making, but I would like to know how old this boat really is...

Any help would be appreciated.
