I got a lot of help and advice from this forum. Some just by reading and some by asking.

My (year unknown) EBay Hobie 14 got wet for the first time yesterday off the north side of Sanibel Causeway. Nothing broke and nothing sank.

I did find out how hard it is to tack. The wind was only about 5 or 6 knots but the boat moved well and accelerated nicely.

Can anyone tell me what the significance is of the sail number ? I got the boat from a scrap yard and have no documentation.

Thanks

Sail numbers are typically used for racing. Each and every Hobie Cat sail is assigned a sail number. This is a sequential number since the beginning of production of that model. The number does not directly relate to the boat however. You could have a very old boat, but when you get a replacement sail, the number is the latest production number.
