I picked up a 14 Turbo recently with a slightly bent aluminum mast. I couldn't find any kinks or anything...just a minor curve to starboard. Maybe a one or two inch deflection at best but the sail goes up okay. I'm reluctant to try and bend it back for fear of worse damage. What sort of performance degradation, if any, will I experience with this condition?

Sunvista, You should find little difference considering the bend that occurs with mast in rotation position and vang on hard when sailing to windward. I bent a mast some time ago and Hobie kindly replaced it - I bent it while in an upside down position in 6' surf bouncing the mast off the ocean floor, tough boats those babies.

The problem you will have is that the mast will preferentially rotate to one side, especially with the downhaul on. Otherwise, there's no real difference in performance.

I had the same thing on my Hobie 16, and I'm just a recreational sailor at my summer cabin and I didn't affect my sailing at all. Maybe if you were racing it might be something to think about but no worries for the average sailor. And I would not recommend trying to bend it back, it is EXTREMELY hard to bend and trying to do so will just complicate matters worse.
