How much is a Hobie 14 Hull supposed to weigh? Just ONE hull not the whole boat?? cw |

I can tell you tomorrow afternoon...I have my starboard hull pulled off right now. It may be a little heavy due to some water in it, but it should be pretty well dried out by then. I'll weigh it and let you know. |

Chris, I hope you find what you WANT to hear. The weights thrown around for 16's is like 60 to 65 pounds. Of the three hulls I've weighed the lightest was 82 pounds. The hot rods would tell us to throw it away. Hey, they don't leak, and keep us close enough to at least observe proper roll tacks and other advanced sailing techniques, from the rear view! H16 hull weight 65 pounds? Actually the weights of a 16 hull are in the high 60s and low 70s pound range...before hardware is installed. Bow tangs, Anchor bars and pins, gudgeons, screws and draing plug fittings. Add to that a bit of time in the water and an 80 pound hull is not that far off. |

My quick math says one 14 hull would be about 60 pounds, when new? Maybe a little more concidering the pylons are pretty much identical to the 16. |

The starboard hull on my 1978 H14 with all hull-mounted fittings other than the drain plugs weighs 58 lbs on my digital scales. If I decide to pull the port hull off the frame I'll weigh that one and post the weight for it too. |
