Yes! All of the 14s here in Va Beach are rigged like 16s--and some like 18s. We are fortunate enough to have on-beach, mast up storage and taking the jib with us is important.
I have the measurements at home to make the new rigging, but I'll explain it first.
The easiest way to do the conversion is to get a good used set of Hobie 16 rigging. You cut the bridles, forestay and halyard down and it just attaches with a shackle. You also need to install a cheek block and cleat on the side of the mast like a 16. You raise the sail just like you do on a 16 and it takes up the slack in the rig. The only difference is that you lose the furler that is stock on the 14.
But, if you want the furler, you can get a set of rigging from an 18 and cut the bridles and forestay to fit. I used the upper pigtail from a 16 on mine with the upper furler cut off of the 18 upper pigtail. Now, the problem with this set up is that you need to get a zipper installed on the jib ala Hobie 18. That can be expensive, but it is pretty cool when it is done. I took off the stock 18 wire jib halyard and just use a very thin rope.
