Anyone ever used hardware or farm & ranch store ropes for tramp lacing and running rigging? West Marine is my only other local source for rope, and their prices are WAY too high for my beater 14. What type of line are you guys using for tramp lacing halyard and sheets?

When I first bought my 14 last summer ( a beater as well I suppose), I just bought my main sheet and jib sheets at Lowes. It worked pretty well, but if you drop it in the water (happens quite often), the rope gets water logged.

you need 36 feet for the main sheet, I just bought one from Murrays for .90 per foot, with shipping it's like $40

I agree on high prices, but I mostly want it to preform underway, so I paid for the good stuff.

If you find a good lowes performer please post your find.
