Hi! I just got back from sailing my 14 Turbo! Great afternoon!

II'm trying to figure out why the job flutters so much? I have the jib as low as it can go on the roller furler, and I have the mast raked back quite a lot.
It's the original sail from 1983, so maybe it's just blown out?

Any thoughts?

Thanks! :D

That's more than likely your problem, but the basic problem is that the leech doesn't have enough tension. The only way to change that is to change the angle of the jib sheet so it pulls more down than back than it does now.

But I doubt if there's enough adjustment to take care of a 30 year old sail's blown out leech.

Thanks Matt!

I'll look at replacing it in the coming months... :)

Often a sail maker can recut an old jib and that might fix the fluttering

If you go this route, have them add a leech line. This can be used to 'calm' the leech with an adjustable tension.

My 14 Jib is old and was pretty ripped up, but i took it to an upholstery shop and had the holes covered ($40), and the leech line replaced and its sleeve re-sewn. That leech line really does a lot of work in decent winds, i found this out because i sailed on it while it was still messed up.

So depending on the condition of the sail, mast rake, how you sail and etc., you might be looking at just having it repaired a bit. Otherwise, I would hate to have to try and find another jib, they can get pricey...
