Positve Mast Rotation allowed on a 14???

Just to set the record straight, I emailed the Hobie rules committee with that question. Here's the reply:

If you mean a positive mast rotator the answer is no. See Hobie Cat 14 rule 3.5 and General Rule 4.

Just got my new 14 main sail in, comp. tip is now on. I have great sail shape except for the bottom panel which is baggy. I tried lots of downhaul, outhaul and mainsheet tension, ev en tried different mast rotations. I also tried lightening up those. Any suggestions? I got the mast rotator parts here, getting ready to add. Too bad we cant use a pos. rotator bungee like on a H20.

The bottom of the 14 sails have always been baggy. We all have the same thing! Send me pics when the projects are complete!

What is keeping us from using a simple out-of-the box bungee cord attached to the end of the rotator and then to the forestay? I have added the rotator to mine and you really need to limit the rotation when close hauled, but it really helps when going down wind. I'm so far forward when going downwind that I practically hold onto the bridle, anyway. I found that if I had a bungee attached to the line that we use to pull the mast forward, then I can just grab it and hook onto the rotator. In light wind, it keeps it rotated, but in heavy wind, I don't find that I need it as much.

There is also nothing that says you can't run the rotator line around the mast to make it an over-rotator!

I asked the question because it made sense to do what you describe. However, the Int Rulz committee said no; see above post. You'll just have to tuff it out like the rest of us!
