Hobie 14 main blocks

Hi, I have a 1976 Hobie 14T here in Sarasota, FL with an old (cracking) riley 4:1 system. Not my favorite. I am looking at upgrading to a 6:1 but it seems the ideal of a 40mm upper and 2.25 ratchet lower (h194) does not exist. I want to run 5/16 as my mainsheet.

Can I go 29mm upper? Is there a good lower block that ratchet can turn on or off? Should I just go with non ratcheting 40mm lower?

What about a 6:1 with both 29mm and 5/16 for a cost effective method?

i have seen the 57mm ones but that seems like overkill on a 14 turbo

What have some other people done with their blocks and 5/16 main?

57mm equals 2.25" and is the size of (now out of production) H194 lower block

It's rare to get the 14 in a block to block sheeting condition (unless your crew weight is VERY light)

I'd put a 57 mm carbo, or classic 2.25", triple upper on and go sailing

5/16" line will zing through the 57, whereas it's right at the limit of a 29mm block
