Dolphin Striker Assembly

I'm trying to save money refurbishing my H14 so I decided to make my own dolphin striker. Can anyone post or send me pictures of how it attaches? I already checked the assembly manuals and they didn't show.

This just seems like a VERY BAD IDEA, but the original 14 was without the dolphin striker so I guess if what you made didn't work.....it wouldn't be that big of deal.

You might look at some other boats out there. I know that some companies basically have a large bolt through the front crossbeam which acts as the dolphin striker, and the mast step. I am not sure how something like this would work on the 14 since the mast step is a backward to what other boats are.

As a second option, you might look for an old boat that you can get the striker off of. I think that they striker from the 16 might work with some adjustment.

The Murrays add on striker is your BEST solution. By the time you amass materials and chalk up your time(at least $50/hr), you could have bought the kit, had it installed, and be out sailing! A make shift striker could fail and end up injurying someone on the boat.

if you decide to go with the Morris kit be sure to call you Hobie dealer, they are more than likely also a Murray's dealer and will be able to provide you with the parts at the same price as if you were to go straight to Murray's, this way you are still supporting your dealer!

I'm a senior mechanical engineering student, so structural integrity won't be an issue, I just wanted it to look like the original.

Just call a dealer and buy it. It will take 10min to install and off you go. My brother is a mechanical engineer too, but it didn't keep him from the most awesome pitchpole on my 14 I have ever seen.
