Got a 1989 hobie 14 sailboat from my grandfather. It had been sitting for a while so after cleaning it up I took it out. The centerboard would not stay down. Pulling the rope did nothing and going out and pulling the actual centerboard worked but it wouldn't stay down in place and would just go right back up. I'm assuming the extension spring is rusted/stretched out/just broken. I honestly haven't gone through and taken the center wood part off to investigate. I've looked up the part number (9232-0041) is discontinued. Does anyone have the specs on this spring so I can fabricate something similar to it?? Thanks!! :D

You have a Hobie / Holder MK2 Monohull

You could use bungee in place of the spring. I'll email a drawing of the spring.
