Hi all , I have an vintage 14 , 1982 , (not sure if my image has uploaded ) with a cleat on the starboard side of the front bar. would this be for attaching a line to the bridle wire to pull forward the mast when going downwind ?? if so any suggestions on how and where it gets attached please ??

thank you

Yes, its for the mast rake line (unless your boat is a Turbo with jib, in which case it’s for the furler line). The mast rake line setup is extremely simple - just a single line (about 1/4” diameter) tied to the forestay adjuster shackle and run back to the cleat. Pull it in to stand the mast up for sailing downwind, release the line to rake the mast back for sailing upwind.
